Today is the US premiere day for “The Dark Tower” starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. The latter has been a favourite of ours for a long time, so this Friday we selected five movies starring charming Mr. All-right, all right, all right.

The Dark Tower (2017)

The Universe is held together by the Dark Tower and if it falls, Hell will be unleashed. This is why the tower is protected by the so called Gunslingers, a group of knights tasked to preserve balance and peace.

However, there is just one Gunslinger left (Idris Elba) and he has a challenge ahead of him: to stop the Man in Black (Mcconaughey) from destroying the tower and to prevent evil from taking over ours and all the parallel worlds.

Based on Stephen King’s novels of the same name, The Dark Tower will probably keep you on your toes from start to finish.

Dallas Buyers Club (2016)

Dallas Buyers Club is based on the life of Ron Woodroof, whose life was turned over when he was diagnosed with HIV in the middle of 1980’s.

Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) lives a life of leisure – heavy smoking, drinking, drug use and casual sex. Ending up in a hospital for a work-related injury, he finds out he’s HIV-positive; the doctors give him 30 days to live.

However, Woodroof refuses to accept this deadline and embarks on a journey of survival, while smuggling illegal HIV/AIDS drugs from Mexico.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

The Wolf of Wall Street is another movie based on real-life events and people. Directed by Martin Scorsese, shis dark comedy biopic follows the life of Jordan Belfort, а young broker trying to sell the Wall Street dream.

Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) lives fast, surrounded by women, sports cars, and drugs. He works for for L.F. Rothschild, employed under Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey), he has a beautiful young wife (Margot Robbie) and a cool sidekick (Jonah Hill) and seems to have it all – but he quickly gets greedy. Belfort sets us his own company, running a pump & dump scam, but the FBI is decided to take him down, and his fall is quick and painful.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009)

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is a romantic comedy that uses Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as a clever vehicle for its plot.

Connor Mead (Matthew McConaughey) is a successful fashion photographer and prominent womanizer. He goes to his younger brother’s wedding to convince him not to marry – but he’s about to make an interesting discovery about love and relationships, guided by the ghosts of girlfriends past, present and future.

A Time to Kill (1996)

A Time to Kill is a 1996 American crime drama adaptation of John Grisham’s novel of the same name.

In Canton, Mississippi, 10-year-old Tonya Hailey is viciously brutalized by two racist rednecks. Her father Carl Lee Hailey (Samuel L. Jackson) remembers a case from a year ago, when four white men raped an African-American girl in a nearby town and got acquitted. Carl is determined to not let that happen again, and shoots the young men.

His young defense lawyer Jake Tyler Brigance (Matthew McConaughey) will do their best to keep him out of prison with the help of his team – law student Ellen Roark (Sandra Bullock), close friend Harry Rex Vonner (Oliver Platt), and former mentor and longtime activist Lucien Wilbanks (Donald Sutherland), a once-great civil rights lawyer. Will they get justice?
