It’s Chris Hemsworth’s birthday today and we celebrate it by picking five of his movies to watch this weekend. Crazy races, space invaders, superheroes and more – this is what you’ll find in our Friday Five selection this week.

Rush (2013)

Are you a fan of Formula 1? Then you’re in for a treat. Rush is based on the real-life rivalry between F1 racers Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth).

The plot follows the 1976 Formula 1 World Championship; both drivers are set to win but they have to be careful – F1 is a sport that doesn’t leave room for mistakes. Driven by danger, driven by ambition, driven by each other Lauda and Hunt drive head to head in the almost literally life-and-death struggle.

Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård and Idris Elba – a group of extraordinary actors putting their hearts into Marvel’s mythology.

An ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor (Hemsworth) has to sacrifice everything to save the world.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Star Trek Into Darkness is the 12th installment in the Star Trek film franchise and the sequel to the 2009 film Star Trek, as the second in a rebooted film series. It is a spectacular picture with enthralling action sequences and awesome special effects.

Here’s a peek into the storyline: Тhe USS Enterprise crew is called back home, but what they find is not what they expected. An epic chess game of life and death, love and friendship will be challenged, and sacrifices must be made, because the only family for Captain Kirk now is his crew.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012)

Do you want to have a vacation in a remote cabin in the woods? May it sounds romantic, but surely you do not want to go to this particular cabin.
Five teenagers head off for a weekend at a secluded cabin in the woods. Everything goes normal until they find an odd assortments of relics and curios and they awaken a family of deadly zombie killers.

Get ready for a creepy experience in The cabin in the woods, along with Dona (Kristen Connolly), Curt (Chris Hemsworth), Jules (Anna Hutchison) , Marty (Fran Kranz), Holden (Jesse Williams).

The Avengers (2012)

The Avengers is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name.

When two evils make a deal – the avengers have to come and fight to save the world. After being exiled from the Nine Realms following his actions in Asgard, Loki come together with The Other, the servant of a mysterious warlord.

Now Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) , The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Steve Rogers), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the evil.
